[Opening – direct to camera]

Want to know the one setting that almost always has to be changed when working with a new client?

One simple setting that I’ve personally seen increase a client’s Google Ads conversion by 34% within 10 days?

Well keep watching

Hi Im Mark Farrell the owner of Rocket Reach PPC

Let me show you the quickest and easiest change you’re ever gonna make to your ads

The one change that almost always gets missed.

Whys it missed?

It’s missed because it’s hidden away during setup and even if you do stumble on it ill almost guarantee you’ll ignore it.

Aswell. If you’ve ever wondered why you see traffic from Germany, Spain the USA even though you’re only targeting the UK then this, is more than likely the same reason.

Hopefully, me bringing it to your attention will stop you making the same mistake over and over again

Don’t leave it to chance when one simple click can save you a fortune on lost ad spend and possibly catapult your conversions through the roof?

Lets jump on a quick screen share.

And I’ll show you exactly what you need to change and why

[Cut to screen share or graphic]

OK lets get started

The magic bullet for today is hidden away during setup.

After you’ve selected your campaign type

You end up here

Scroll down to the locations section and click on the location options link.

What you’ll notice is that the location options are conveniently hidden behind a link.

Most post people will ignore this and just crack on.

By actually clicking.

You get the chance to make the easiest positive change your ever gonna make.

Take a look at what google has pre selected and recommend for you.

Not sure why its recommend, other than to make Google more money but, none the less theres probably someone out there who will enlighten me.

Pop it in the comments.

The pre selected option is presence or interest.

And what that means is,  that if someone in whatever country has ever shown an interest in your location then potentially they qualify to see your ads.

What an absolute waste of time.

Its 100% a waste of time if you don’t sell to any other countries but your targeted location.

Im sure your all way ahead of me now but,

Go and change the setting straight away tooooo.

Presence only.

Doing this, your ads are only going to show for people who are actually in, or regularly in your targeted location.

Now that you know what to change and why to change it, let’s go back to just me and ill walk you through a real world example of when I changed it for one client and made a massive difference.

END OF SCREEN SHARE WALK THROUGH

Being careful to preserve the identity lets just say we started working with a “ luxury bathroom retailer” based in Yorkshire

Who wanted help increasing sales

Once we had access to the campaign we were fairly certain they’d left the location setting to the default.

Conversion rate was reasonable, Click through rate was steady

But  at least 30% of traffic was coming from outside of the UK despite their location being set to UK

Anyway

We changed all there campaigns to “Presence only” – and within 10 days:

  • Bounce rate dropped by 28%
  • Conversion rate improved by 34%
  • CPA fell by nearly £35

It was literally one setting – and it made a massive difference.

We made lots more changes later on too but this one was the easiest and quickest by far.
